Coastguard, police and ambulance called to Falmouth pier

Late on Thursday evening, the Falmouth Coastguard team was called to a report of a person in the water at the Prince of Wales Pier.

South Western Ambulance Service, Devon and Cornwall Police, and the Falmouth Lifeboat were also dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found one male who had been recovered from the water and was receiving medical attention from the police and paramedics.

The coastguard and lifeboat crews initiated a search of the surrounding area, as an initial report suggested there might be a second person in the water.

Following a thorough search, further information was received indicating that there was no second person in the water. All search activity was stood down, and the coastguard crew returned to their station.

The coastguard team thanked members of the public who were present on the pier at the time and assisted before the arrival of the emergency services.

If you spot someone in danger at the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
