Cyclist seriously injured after crash on A390 in Truro

A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a car in Truro.

The incident, which happened just before 8pm at Highertown, near the County Arms pub has seen the road closed for a number of hours as Devon and Cornwall Police investigate the incident, which has seen the cyclist taken to hospital with what are described as “serious injuries”.

Traffic reporting service Inrix says: “A390 HIGHERTOWN – HIGHERTOWN, TRURO – BOTH DIRECTIONS – CORNWALLA390 Highertown in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident near the County Arms pub.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: Devon and Cornwall Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision in Highertown, Truro at 19:55pm this evening. The serious road traffic collision involved a car and pedal cyclist, and the cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road is currently closed for investigation by serious incident investigators and will be for some time.”
