Concrete Chaos Pool Jam

14 August @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Skateboarding has become a hot topic recently in mainstream media and Britain’s eyes are now drawn to the breathtaking sport. Now that a new generation of promising young skaters are making their professional debuts and catching the attention and the hearts of the public, the sport is building a strong sense of community spirit and left us wanting more.

And more is exactly what’s on offer at Newquay’s Concrete Waves on Saturday 14th August…

To bring the community together after the toughest of 18 months, DC, Santa Cruz, Firebrand Brewing and Habito Mortgages have teamed up to bring the adrenaline to Cornwall. Skating will be on throughout the day, with all ages and abilities encouraged to get involved.

The under-18s will be kicking off with a skate jam at 10am – definitely worth “dropping in” for, as this is clearly a sport where the young can dominate. Women’s competition will then commence at 11am, and the men’s after 1pm. A kicker comp over Firebrand barrels will be running in the middle of the day to keep the action going. £3700 prize money will be up for grabs over the course of competition, and awesome kickflips and impressive tail flips will also be scoring giveaways from the sponsoring brands. Giving the competition a real buzz will be Mark Churchill, a renowned skateboarding commentator, who will MC the events.

The day will wrap up at 5pm with a communal litter pick. Working with Newquay Council on their current anti-litter campaign, the day will encourage the skaters and spectators to take pride in the skatepark and hopefully inspire them to keep it litter-free for the future.

As we come out of the pandemic, we are both proud and excited to bring this core event to Newquay, for a day that may superficially be about competition, but is really about community.
