Sunset Session with Dan Chapman

15 June @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Dan Chapman has been playing at our Sunset Sessions since the start; as a duo, solo, with his quartet and with guest singers and musicians. Whenever he plays it’s beautiful, something special, make sure to be here. xxx

During 2023, Dan was promoting the release of his first full length LP entitled ‘My Friend Wolf’. Dan’s music is created in reflection and response to his ongoing journey in life after calling various places around the world home. This translates into an emotionally charged live performance that ebbs and flows, captivating audiences with a voice that has both great power and intricate, delicate control.

After a year living, performing and writing the songs for My Friend Wolf with his four-piece band in Melbourne, the Covid pandemic forced Dan to return to the UK. During the lockdown period he performed online to keep in contact with his community while restoring a traditional narrowboat. This became the home and studio where he recorded My Friend Wolf, the LP was released in 2022.

Dan’s soulful, indie, folk music will arouse the interests of fans of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Patrick Watson, Bon Iver and similar artists.

“Haunting vocals and ethereal yet powerful sounds make for this special performer’s success. Live from St John’s  captures the magic of being present at a Dan Chapman concert.” – Reverie Music

“Sweet Marbled Monster”…Dan’s soaring vocals interweave with intuitive keys from Chris followed by an explosive, goosebump-inducing fusion of the quartet in its entirety. Dan’s solo rendition of ‘Strange Fruit’ is masterful, he lifts mountains with the height and brightness of his falsetto and digs deep with gravelly tones when it is appropriate.” – Raving Wild
