A racist drunk has been jailed for a catalogue of violent and foul-mouthed episodes.
Thomas Howard, 29, was before the courts earlier this year for masturbating outside a bowling alley but this time fell to be sentenced for a series of offending all committed under the influence of alcohol.
Howard, of no fixed abode, appeared at Truro Crown Court via video-link from HMP Exeter after pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly and theft. The offences also put Howard in breach of various recent court orders in relation to other episodes of drunken violence and racist outbursts over recent months.
Prosecuting the case, Ian Graham told the court how on September 28 police were called to the White Hart Hotel in St Austell.
Heavily intoxicated Howard had been asked to leave and reacted by smashing a glass.

When police arrived they found Howard at a nearby church urinating against the building.
Howard, swaying on his feet, was challenged and responded by trying to kick the officer as he went to arrest him. He called the policeman ‘four-eyed c*nt’ and continued to kick the officer three or four times.
He also called his colleague ‘a ginger c*nt’ amongst other expletives. Howard also attempted a head lunge when placed in the police van and continued his abusive behaviour in custody.
The defendant was also found to be in possession of a bottle of Sambuca stolen from The White Hart.
Mr Graham also detailed the previous offending for which Howard received non-custodial sentences in July and September of this year.
One of the incidents related to violence towards security staff at a homeless centre in Pool he was staying at. The incident culminated in Howard calling a security officer ‘a black c*nt’.
The other incident was remarkably similar, this time at a homeless facility in St Austell where Howard said to a security officer ‘what are you looking at? I’ll knock those shiny teeth out. F*ck you n*gger, go back to your own country’. He also kicked a woman from a chair during the fracas.
Representing himself during the hearing, Howard said: “I was mixing with the wrong people. Half of it I didn’t know I did and I regret all of it. Alcohol is my main issue no doubt and I need help on the alcohol side of things.”
Sentencing Howard, Judge Robert Linford gave him a six-month sentence taking into account the breaches and reiterated his hope that Howard could remain dry on release.
