List of symptoms Covid survivors say they’ve experienced afterwards

Hair loss, fatigue and memory loss, these are just some of the symptoms survivors of coronavirus say they’ve been experiencing after having the virus, experts have said.

Experts believe there could be up to 600,000 people in the UK alone suffering from the long term effects of Covid-19.

A group has been set up to help survivors post-virus and now has 3,000 members from more than 60 countries around the world.

The group says it has counted 172 symptoms displayed by those suffering long-term effects of the virus.

Post Covid Syndrome Group creator Louise, who has not revealed her surname, told the Daily Mirror: “People are experiencing so many symptoms – we’ve counted 172.

“GPs aren’t believing them, they say they’re making it up.

“Employers have no idea what these people are going through either.”

Alisa Gabay, 36, from Hampstead, north London, said she has been battling a horrific range of side effects, including “brain fog’ and ‘choking’ several times a night.

“This has brought me to my knees. I’ve been stuck in bed for seven months,” she told the Daily Mirror.

“Post-Covid fatigue has transformed me from a fit, highly active creative director in her thirties to a housebound, disabled, isolated woman living in fear.”

Another survivor, A&E nurse Sophie Evans, 28, spent ten days in hospital and is still on sick leave with long Covid, with “no end in sight”.

She said: “Every day is a battle, I am constantly in pain. I thought I was going to die. I don’t know how I am not dead.

“It breaks my heart to know there will be more sufferers during a second peak. It’s a horrible place to be.”

Meanhwile, a report by researchers at King’s College London has warned: “Evidence is mounting that some people who have had relatively mild symptoms at home may also have a prolonged illness.

“Although we know that lasting fatigue can sometimes follow other viral infections, detailed mechanistic insight is, for the most part, lacking.”
