Royal Cornwall Museum

Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery is home to more than a million objects. The collections of treasures, artefacts, art and photography that we take care of help explain Cornwall, its language, Cornish identity and life in our region. Through these objects we can look at the lives of the people of Cornwall through time, the things they have kept, collected or found.

Inside, visitors can explore Cornwall’s globally significant mining heritage, with displays showing how tin and copper mining shaped communities, landscapes, and industry. The museum also features archaeology collections with ancient tools, pottery, and artefacts that reveal life in early Cornwall, along with exhibits connected to wider world cultures, including Egyptian antiquities.

The art galleries showcase paintings, drawings, and works inspired by Cornwall’s dramatic coastline, rural scenery, and artistic movements. Alongside this, geology and natural history displays highlight the county’s unique mineral wealth and natural environment.
