Theatre company announces ‘pay what you decide’ ticket scheme

Wildworks is bringing back its outdoor show The Kneebone Cadillac this July at United Downs Raceway in St Day.

To improve access to the arts, Wildworks is introducing a bold new ticket model—offering prices from just £1 with no income checks, questions, or eligibility criteria.

Nathan Jackson, executive producer at Wildworks, said: “We wanted to create a model that reflects the realities of making ambitious work while also opening the doors wider.

“Some people will pay more, some will pay less, some will pay what they can, together, that’s what makes this possible.”

The “pay what you decide” approach launches on May 15 when general tickets are released.

Supporter-level tickets are already on sale.

Patron tickets cost £70, helping to fund future productions while making lower-cost tickets possible for others.

Solidarity tickets are £40 and directly support the scheme by allowing someone else to attend at a reduced price.

Community tickets are set at £10, made possible by the contributions of patrons and solidarity ticket holders.

100 per cent of ticket income goes directly towards the costs of making our work and enabling us to develop and present new work.

The production costs approximately £105,000 to stage.

The budget covers artists, technical crews, design, site build, rehearsal periods, infrastructure, transport, and the delivery of 25 outdoor shows.

Wildworks, a registered charity, funds its work through a mix of public funding, ticket sales, sponsorship, and Theatre Tax Relief.

The model is part of the company’s commitment to keeping theatre accessible as the cost of living continues to rise.

Wildworks specialises in large-scale immersive theatre rooted in landscape, community, and storytelling.

The Kneebone Cadillac will run from July 10 to 29, with shows taking place Wednesday to Sunday each week, plus an extra Tuesday performance during the final week.

Patron and solidarity tickets are on sale now via the Wildworks box office.

General ticket sales begin on May 15.
